Has had several addresses over its history. This hat would be from on or near the civil war. Smithsonian Museum lists a presentation sword for 1863 by Palmer Bachelders & Co. I found 2 ads that identify their address at #162 Washingston St. Another source says that Palmer Bachelders was listed in the 1855 Boston city directory at 91 Washington Street and in the 1865 edition at 164?By 1872 they moved and their address was changed to 31 Temple Place. I found 2 sightings of this pin online with differing opinions as to date. I do not know if this pin is original to the hat or was added later. The eagle pin is identical with one used for an Abraham Lincoln campaign pin at The Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection website. Another site identifies the Lincoln piece as an 1884 memorial badge.
