Up for sale is this extremely rare early lithograph of General Grant's message to. On the day of General's Lee's surrender of the army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court house on April 9, 1865.
This note (on official army stationary) looks to be from the later 1800's, sometime not long after the war. It is attached to a thick piece of hard cardboard like material that has 2 small broken pieces on the corners of the backing.
This does not effect the note as it is in excellent condition. The note itself is 5" x 8" and the backing is 10" x 8" Really a unique piece. I cannot find another one anywhere. It is uncanny how much this resembles the original.
