Tight binding with covers still attached.Complete with all 900+ pages and 12 monthly hand-colored fashion engravings. Double-sided printing except for some engraved plates. No man-made markings except owners' names inside front cover. Covers and spine have some edge wear, covers have some scuffing. Minor small scattered spotting on pages. One fold-out page is split on fold lines.
Contents: 12 monthly issues of a popular women's magazine from 1864 plus title page and two alphabetical indexes--for January-June and July-December. Each issue has several engraved steel or wood illustrations, including a hand-colored steel engraving of the latest fashion styles from Paris for that month.
Color has also been added to some of the needlepoint and embroidery patterns within the book. In addition to clothing, accessories and patterns for making them, fictional stories and non-fictional articles give a glimpse into domestic life in 1864. Contents include but are not limited to.
