A seldom seen fine example of a cuff/vest Revolutionary War American Artillery Officer's button. The excavated shell was originally crimped around a bone or wood back that has turned to dust long ago. Condition is very very nice for this type of button.A small piece of the rim has become separated from the button but could easily be professionally restored if desired. The back has been filled with wax to stabilize the button and prevent damage. Wax can be removed simply by heating. Button measures a large 17.38mm. See photos for condition details.
