This JH inspectors mark often appears on other Ames, Cabotville swords.Thus, from JH + C, it can be safely assumed: this is Ames-made. Single-edged blade with a flat spine, 2 fullers on each side: both wide and narrow. Under closer inspection, the edge shows a few tiny nicks. Snug fit to the scabbard. The original leather washer survived.
The handle, guard and blade are all solid & tight together. Grip : brown leather w/twisted tight brass wire all original. Leather has small age wear near guard. The original scabbard : great solid rings & drag.
