High Quality reproduction fur felt hat (American Civil War)
Outstanding black fur felt wide-brimmed hat made by Mr. Tim Bender, well-known hat maker, now reportedly retired from the CW hat business. Hat was made specifically for a major Manassas reenactment (perhaps the 150th, but maybe a little earlier) and was patterned after the relatively low-crowned, wide-brimmed hats fashioned into tricorns by many Mississippi troops. Leather sweatband is hand-stitched into hat; brim binding appears to be machine-stitched with a double row of stitches.
Brim is bent from storage but this is essentially a new, very hard-to-find hat from a very well-respected maker. Size is approximately 7 1/2', maybe a bit larger.
