Civil War imported bayonet for the British P-53 rifle musket, imported into this country by both sides in large numbers during the war. This one shows only the initials JK or JR at the base of the blade, and what looks like a "3" and some other marks on the edge of the socket opening. The blade is bright mixed with gray spots. The socket shows a tad brighter and was likely cleaned at some point, but it beginning to tone down again. The scabbard is the American scabbard designed for these import bayonets, black leather body with standard brass tip and belt loop secured with eight rivets. Belt loop is bridle leather and shows overall wear, but is solid. The scabbard shows there was break about five inches from the tip that was mended. It is now solid though you can see the glue line on the back edge. The item "Civil War British Enfield Bayonet and American Scabbard" is in sale since Sunday, March 05, 2017.
