Up for your consideration is this beautiful photo album from the American Civil War. The album is bound in dark brown leather and embossed in gold trim and letters. The ends of each page are finished in gold with an embossed design. Both clasps are present and work. The spine is separated but could be repaired.

There are seven excellent CDV's of men of the 4th Cavalry of Missouri State Militia, Union Army. The images are identified as 1st photo Colonel George Hall, 2nd photo is Major George W.

Kelly, 3rd photo is Major Douglas Dale {not identified in the album}, 4th photo is Captain William C. Lefever, 5th photo is unnamed trooper, 6th photo is Lt. Robert Stephens, 7th photo is Corporal John Chrisman. All are in excellent uniforms but only our unidentified man is armed with a brace of fine pistols. All of the images which have studio designations (2) are from Jefferson City, Missouri.

All of the photos except for our unidentified trooper have information about the subject of the photo--promotions, companies, and names on the reverse. The photos are untrimmed and are sharper than our own photos. The album has a capacity to hold 42 images and measures 5 and 1/4 by 6 and 1/8 inches. It is 1 and 7/8 inches deep. It is marked Lippincott and Company. A most unusual album and Image collection. A wonderful addition to any collection!
