Antique Hand Cut Copper Folk Art Arrow Sign GAR 17th Corps American Civil War
This antique hand cut copper folk art sign is in very good condition, with an old weathered surface that has disguised the copper to resemble tin or some other metal. It is copper with a large amount of time outside in the elements to give it this verdigris surface. In the form of an arrow laid across a diamond, the sign has been hand painted with GAR 17th Corps. The sign is 18" wide and 12" tall. Holes have been punched in the piece to facilitate hanging, as shown. It looks to me that the hand painted GAR reference is a later addition to the sign. The original paint could have washed / worn away and it was repainted? Please review all of the photographs for additional condition reporting.
