AMERICAN 6 OR 9 POUNDER CANNON WORM, YORKTOWN, 1781 & FORK UNION, VIRGINIA. This American 6 or 9 pounder cannon worm is from the Siege & Battle of Yorktown, Virginia fought in September & October, 1781. It is 3 5/8" diameter & is 4 5/8" long with a 4 1/2 arm that has a hole for a pin to hold it onto the wood shaft. After the battle all the American unclaimed, captured from the British, French or surplus equipment was sent to Point Of Forks Armory under the command of Captain Richard Napier. This worm is from that collection.

It is in very good condition with light pitting & has a dark brown patina. It was used by Captain Napier & a volunteer company of artillerymen who had it with a 6 pounder from Yorktown that was kept in front of the courthouse & fired on all holidays.
