LAST TIME TO be POSTED! This is a very rare hat / cap! This is an authentic Union Soldier's era cap that could be from Spanish American War / Indian Wars era; between 1887 and 1899.
These uniforms were created during Civil War and Union Army wore similar clothing for many years. Foster made clothing from approximately 1887 to 1900, this cap is authentic, and may have belonged to an African American soldier. This is an amazing find! We have NO idea of value, so we are asking for offers! We don't want to ask fifty dollars and it end up being a relic worth much more. So we are putting a price and all you have to do is make an offer...
But this IS very old and the buttons are equally valuable. This is quite worn, but actually in better condition than we figured. The brim in front is a little unattached but someone at some point in time tried to re-sew it to front of cap. There are some tiny moth holes here and there (see pics) and the is coming apart and needs to be refinished / redone. Overall amazing piece, please see pictures.
